When Money And "Ego" Drop Out ...

13 Comments | Leave a Comment

joy2.jpg In Phase 1 of The Human Game, so much of what we do, including when we play The Business Game, is motivated by:

1. Money (the desire to make or have more)

2. Self-Esteem (the desire/need to feel better about ourselves, to feel powerful, valuable, valued and worthwhile)

In Phase 2, after you've knocked out enough cloud cover and expanded, both those motivations weaken and then drop away.

The money becomes a non-issue because you naturally create whatever you need to "fund" whatever you want to do, and you have Absolute Certainty about that, so you let go and relax into it.

Self-Esteem becomes a non-issue because you've opened back into your natural state of off the charts Appreciation for who you are and everything you do and experience.

Through the design of the Phase 2 game, it generally takes a lot of work and drilling through the cloud cover to get to that place. You can't rush it, think your way there, self-discipline your way there, intend your way there, or personal growth technique your way there.

You have to wait, in essence, until you expand to the point where it naturally happens.

The interesting thing to consider for today is, what is left when those two potent Phase 1 forces/illusions drop out?

If you continue to play The Business Game, which I call "The New Business Game" at that point, but the money doesn't matter, and enhancing your self-esteem doesn't matter, what does?

Fun!

Enjoyment!

Pleasure!

From the playing.

That's it. And those experience soar and continue soaring.

When that happens, every choice you make, every decision you make, and all the stories your Expanded Self creates to support you in playing change radically.

Radically!

Following is a video, Part 3  in "The Hidden Truth About Most Sales And Marketing Techniques And Approaches" series.

It will also invite you to bring what could be called a spirituality and business or career, or more of a spiritual management or spiritual leadership and spiritual entrepreneurship approach if you already have one.

For more information on the tools I mentioned and how you can knock out cloud cover and expand into the "place" of freedom, fun and True Success I mentioned, visit this website and register for the Guided Tour.

I welcome your comments and your sharing of this post if you feel so moved.

To Business And Marketing Success -- Part 2

Following is part two in the Sun and Clouds metaphor series. It continues the discussion of what limits our success in business and personal life, why we experience ups and downs with sales, profits, employee morale, the stock market, the economy, on and on.

It also continues the discussion of Phase 1 and Phase 2 of This Human Game we're all playing.

The Hidden Truth About Most Sales And
Marketing Techniques And Approaches

5 Comments | Leave a Comment

me-me-me-small.jpgPrior to leaping into Phase 2 and beginning my journey of busting loose, I spent 18 years in direct response marketing on and off the Internet -- for large and small businesses.

During all those years, I did not see , at all or with complete clarity,  two significant patterns I see now, all around me, especially as it relates to small businesses and Internet Marketing. There are exceptions certainly, but these patterns are quite pervasive. I'm going to open this discussion here and then continue it in future entries. Here are the two things I see so clearly now:

"It's All About Me"

In most of the advertisements, emails, websites, etc. I see today, again, especially with small business marketing,  I see and feel what I call "me, me, me, gimme, gimme, gimme, more, more, more" energy. It's all about the business owner, Internet marketer, salesperson, marketing person, etc. -- what he/she wants, and  the insatiable appetite for getting more of what they want (money, ego boost, whatever it is).

In the official party line of marketing, advertising, and Internet marketing, is the concept that you should find a niche or group of people that have a want or problem and seek to help them solve the problem, fulfill the want, etc. through your products and services.

As a result, the illusion is created of "I'm here to help you," or "I want to help you," but it's just a thin disguise for the "me, me, me, gimme, gimme, gimme, more, more, more" dynamics. In Phase 1, within the storyline as I call it, people can feel that. They can sense it. And it has strong impact on your ultimate sales, marketing and business success, even if some people still buy from you.

Many marketers, promoters and advertising folks who absorbed the "serve the niche' party line would argue with me about this and deny what I'm saying here, but that doesn't change the fact that the "me, me, me, gimme, gimme, gimme, more, more, more" dynamics are there in a dominant way on the surface or behind the scenes.

Why is it there in such a dominant way? Because of the Phase 1 dynamics. When you feel small, powerless, not abundant (or your abundance is fragile and can disappear or shrink at any moment), at the mercy of forces beyond your control in a dangerous, "dog eat dog" world (which business often seems to be too), of course the focus and underlying motivation is going to be on you, wanting to "get" something from others, and on an insatiable hunger for more, more, more.

Now, the interesting thing is that when you enter Phase 2, knock out enough cloud cover, and expand to the point where you start to have direct experiences of The Truth about yourself, you do have a focus on "me, me, me" but then it's about you playing for the sheer pleasure of playing, doing what you do for pure the fun of it.

Once you knock out enough cloud cover and expand, the "gimme, gimme, gimme, more, more more" part drops out. And, as you might expect, when you get to that point, not only is your experience of playing The Business Game transformed and much more fun and joyful, but your interactions with "other people" called clients, customers and prospects changes in HUGE ways.

Here's the second thing I began to see clearly, and I know many die-hard marketers, especially direct response marketers on and off the Internet, will deny this with all they've got:

"They Don't Really Want What I'm Offering"

I absorbed the fundamental teaching about finding a market niche with a want or problem and solving/fulfilling it. I then spent 18+ years of being mesmerized by Phase 1 dynamics myself (all of this in the storyline, of course) and I never saw that underneath all of it, all the marketing techniques and strategies, all the copywriting techniques, all of what I call "the sizzle and drama" in copywriting, the structuring of offers, etc. is the belief "They don't really want what I'm offering and I've got to somehow push, force, seduce, or trick them into buying it."

Why do I say that? Because if you look closely, the use of the sizzle, drama, incentives and tricks (money back guarantees, special bonuses if you act fast, "today only pricing," bonus packages that far outweigh the value of the actual product/service in $ value, etc.)  would not be there if the belief was truly that the prospects really want what's being sold.

Even in Phase 1, I saw that if you have a product or service that truly solves a problem or meets a want, and you're talking to someone who has that problem or want, and you simply explain your solution, tell the truth about it, with passion and true sincerity, or simply tell what I'll call "a compelling story" about your unique ability to solve their problem, fulfill their want, they'll line up to buy. There's no need for all the drama, sizzle, tricks and incentives.

More to come on these fascinating topics. Feel free to share a comment or email me with specific questions.

The Sun And Clouds Metaphor As It Applies
To Business And Marketing Success

No Comments | Leave a Comment

Following is a video that shares what my Sun and Clouds metaphor. It is a way of looking what limits our success in business in life, why we experience ups and downs with sales, profits, employee morale, the stock market, the economy, on and on.

It also discusses what I call Phase 1 and Phase 2 of This Human Game we're all playing.

The video also lays a great foundation for future blog posts that can support you in busting loose from the "old" Business Game and beginning to play The New Business Game where you're no longer vulnerable to all the forces that appear to be outside of you and beyond your control -- and where you get to play for the sheer pleasure of playing, no limits, no restrictions of any kind.

Limits And Restrictions On Your Success -- In Business And Life

2 Comments | Leave a Comment

uhaul.jpgWhen I was in my 20's, I rented a U-Hail truck to help me with a move across the country. The truck had what is called a "governor" on the motor that prevented it from going faster than 50 miles per hour, no matter how badly you wanted to go faster, how much of a hurry you were in to "get there," or how far down you pushed the gas pedal.

The same thing is true for playing The Business Game in Phase 1. There is always a "governor" on your "motor" that limits your sales, profits, your team's efficiency and productivity and loyalty, your free time, enjoyment of work or personal time, relationships, etc. -- again, no matter how badly you want something, how hard you try to get it, or how many strategies you try to accelerate and increase your "speed" or effectiveness.

This is how I always felt in Phase 1. I wanted to go far and go fast and achieve all sorts of lofty goals, but I always felt held back, blocked, limited and restricted. After experiencing that for so much of my adult life as I started and built businesses, it was cause for a lot of pain, anger and frustration, and oh, how I longed to be free from it!

The U-Haul trucks could have gone faster. They were capable of lots more. The governor motor was an artificial creation and limitation. The same was true for me and is true for the limitations we experience while playing The Business Game in Phase 1.

In Phase 2, over time, as you knock out the cloud cover and expand, all governors, limiters, restrictors, etc.,  come off and you're free to travel through The Human Game without limits or restrictions of any kind.

I know that there is still something of a governor motor, to continue the metaphor, on me now, since I haven't knocked out all the cloud cover I plan to. But my "truck" is moving so much faster, so much more freely, and the joy of the ride has soared to such an extent that I can scarcely believe it sometimes.

The same opportunity is right there for you too.

Power Outside Is The Key ...

No Comments | Leave a Comment

Power.jpgAs I look back on my experience playing The Business Game in Phase 1 and now in Phase 2, one of the biggest differences, one of the absolute keys to busting loose, is the issue of where the power really is.

In Phase 1, most of the power appears to be outside of you, in clients, customers, competitors, the government, the IRS, employees, the stock market, the economy, attorneys, accountants, partners, board members, etc.

You may be very skilled in many ways, but deep down, in business, you're vulnerable to so many forces that appear to be outside of you and to have lots of power over you.

But that's not The Truth. There is no power outside of you. All the power is inside of you. One of the Phase 2 Truths I'm fond of sharing is "If you're aware of it, you're creating it, down to the smallest detail."

Once you expand enough, and begin having a direct experience of The Truth of who you are and where the power really lies, this whole dynamic reverses itself and you start using your power to create new ways to play The Business Game, with no limits or restrictions, for the sheer pleasure of playing.

Sound hard to believe? Like pie in the sky, woo-woo nonsense? Maybe, depending on your background and training. But it's The Truth nevertheless, and if you commit to playing the Phase 2 game, you'll prove it to yourself - beyond the shadow of a doubt.
