The Layers Of Illusion ...

2 Comments | Leave a Comment

onion.jpgIn order to pull off what I call "The Phase 1 Miracle," which is convincing ourselves we're the opposite of who we really are in an illusion that's real, we must build very complex illusions that have multiple layers.

It's the same thing Hollywood must do to make big-time special effects/illusions appear real.Think of it like the many layers within an onion.

We're seeing this right now in full force as we watch what's happening as people play The "old" Business Game worldwide. One layer is what we see in the media -- newspapers, magazines, radio and TV news, etc. about what's happening to other people.

Another layer is (or can be) what appears to be happening to us personally. Another layer is the discussions we have with others. Another layer is what we say to ourselves.

Right now, as I've discussed in other posts, the illusion of a "recession" is being created, and all the layers are fully in play. When combined, that illusion is very powerful, very convincing, and very scary for many.

But that doesn't change the Truth that you're Infinitely Abundant and have the power and ability to create any experience you want as you play The Business Game, no matter what appears to be happening to you now, what appears to be happening to others around you, no matter what you see in the media, what others are discussing, etc.

However, to expand to the point where you can live that Truth, actually experience your Infinite Abundance, and be independent of the events taking place in the illusion, you must peel back those layers, knock out the Phase 1 cloud cover that's making them seem so real, and having so much power over you. That's very do-able, although it may seem impossible at first blush.

My business has never been stronger than it is right now, despite all the layers of illusion in play, and many other Phase 2 Players I know are experiencing the same thing. You can too!

Steve Jobs and the Phase 1 Dynamics

The picture to your left is of Steve Jobs, top guy at Apple and Pixar Animation Studios.

If you've been following the news, you probably saw that he has taken a leave of absence  as CEO of Apple for health reasons.

Now, before I continue, let me make it clear that I'm a HUGE fan of Steve Jobs. In Fact, I once tried to go to work for him with a company he created called Next, Inc., but wasn't hired. He is and always will be one of my biggest entrepreneurial heroes.

His life is also a fantastic example of the Phase 1 dynamic that you can't ever truly "win" The Business Game.

I don't know what Steve's net worth is but it must be in the hundreds of millions of dollars. In recent years, he has been behind a gigantic turnaround of Apple as a company. He has participated in or been responsible for some of the greatest technological innovations in this century. He also was key in the emergence of Pixar as a major force in the film and animation industry. He's just 53 years old!

From one perspective, the perspective most people view the world from, you could not possibly be a bigger "winner" of The Business Game or The Money Game than Steve is. But if you're playing in Phase 1 of The Human Game, there must always be some sort of "fly in the ointment" that prevents you from really "having it all." So what's Steve's fly?

Health!

He has struggled a lot in his life with health issues, most notably pancreatic cancer. Here's Steve's announcement to Apple's employees and the world at large about his decision to take a leave of absence:

It's only when you begin playing the Phase 2 game and knock out enough of the Phase 1 "cloud cover" that you can truly have it all and actually win The Business Game and The Money Game without having flies in your ointment.

I wish Steve a speedy recovery and return to the active pursuit of his passions, if that is indeed part of his plan.

Daily Reinforcement Of "Lies"

2 Comments | Leave a Comment

Today I'd like to invite you to join me in a little experiment. Get a notebook or pad of paper handy and keep it with you for an entire day, 24 hours. Start whenever you wake up tomorrow. During that one 24 hour period, make a note, an "x" or hash mark or whatever works for you, each time you find yourself saying things to yourself (silently or out loud) or to others, or you hear others saying things to each other that:

  1. Reinforce how "bad" the economy or "things" are right now

  2. Reinforce how vulnerable you are, how much you're at the mercy of people and "forces" that appear to be outside of you and beyond your control (bosses, employees, partners, stock market, clients/customers, cash flow, sales, profits, etc.)

  3. Reinforce how ultimately power-less you are in your business and life

If you want, you can even add descriptions of the nature of what your self-talk, discussions with others, or discussions others had along these lines -- that is, the details of the story.

Then, at the end of the 24 hour period, take a look at how many notes, x's, hash marks, entries, etc. you put on the paper. If you're like most of the people I chat with, you'll be surprised by how many there are -- if you noted each one.

What got reinforced each time you said such a thing to yourself, to someone else, or overheard a conversation with such content? Lies about who you really are, what you're really capable of, what's REALLY going on, and how life and The Business Game really work.

I'm here to keep reminding you of The Truth of it all -- and reinforcing that!

The Failure Of New Years Resolutions ...

No Comments | Leave a Comment

happynewyear.jpg
Every year, a common custom is to create "New Years Resolutions." The idea is to take a look at the year that just passed and make decisions on what to do differently to make the new year  "better."

However, as you know, most if not all New Years Resolutions go nowhere and nothing really changes -- at all or in a lasting way.

There are 3 reasons for this:

1. Where do the resolutions come from? Intellect, logic, wishes, wants, and pie in the sky dreams.

2. There's too much power in the forces in motion wanting to keep things the way they are and resolutions have no real oomph to overcome that inertia.

3.  New Years Resolutions will almost always fail to create true and lasting change as long as you're still playing the Phase 1 game. It's only when you begin playing the Phase 2 game, knock out cloud cover, and expand into more and more of a direct experience of who you really are that anything will really change -- in your business and personal life -- in a significant and lasting way. And then, there's no need for resolutions because everything begins to crank in amazing ways on its own, without you needing to focus on it, intend for it, or "resolve" for it.

It's Just A Ride ...

3 Comments | Leave a Comment

Following is a video clip from a performance of the late comedian Bill Hicks. In the clip, he talks about life being "just a ride." Looking at The Human Experience as being a ride, a game, an illusion appearing real. He does a brilliant job of sharing The Truth of things within the context of comedy.

Being able to experience your life -- and your business -- that way is one of the keys for busting loose from the "old" Business Game and beginning to play The New Business Game, which is what this blog and part of my work is all about helping you do. Click on the play button below and enjoy:
