Cool Time Management Strategy ...
Topics: efficiency, productivity, time management, to do list, to do lists
OK, this isn't a "radical" strategy, but it's a solid one that has served me well throughout the years as it relates to time management. It seems obvious, but I don't know many people who employ this simple strategy.Whenever I have a bunch of to do items on my desk, I do an initial sort of them into piles based on:
- What tasks must I do all by myself?
- What tasks do I play a part in but others must contribute to?
- What tasks must others do all by themselves?
- If someone else needs to get it done all by themselves, I hand those items off first
- If I need to get part of it done, then hand it off to someone else to finish or contribute, I do my part, then hand those off too
- Then I focus 100% on the items I must complete myself in high productivity mode, pausing from time to time to work on something I passed off that comes back to me for further attention.
Try it, you'll like it!

Great advice. I really need to learn to delegate more often.
Great article. I'd love to know your thoughts on work/home balance strategies.
Thank me thank you Robert. This is great support for me as I begin to feel the inner push to work from home and having created the illusion of being overwhelmed in the past in phase 1.
Yep. I still use this "technique," even in Phase 2. I get a kick out of the elegance of it.
